Christina Stephenson: Fighting for all of Oregon
Investing in Job Training & Registered Apprenticeships
Christina Stephenson worked her way through college, but she knows that higher education isn’t the path for everyone. That’s why, as Labor Commissioner, she has a plan to expand registered apprenticeships and workforce training programs—helping Oregonians get back to work, earn a raise, and keep up with inflation, whether or not they have a college degree.
Helping Small Businesses
Christina knows that small businesses drive our local economy. As a former small business owner herself, Christina understands the struggles small businesses face with rising costs and a strained labor market. Big corporations that don’t play by the rules shouldn't have a competitive advantage over our home-grown businesses, which is why she’ll continue working to level the playing field for responsible businesses who work hard to do right by their communities.
Standing Up for Workers’ Rights
As a civil rights attorney, Christina took on big corporations to fight for workers and won—like securing justice for an employee unjustly fired by an unethical mega bank. As Labor Commissioner, she continues to level the playing field for workers and small businesses across Oregon, ensuring fairness, equity, and accountability in every workplace.
Historic Achievements as Labor Commissioner
Since taking office, Christina has led BOLI to historic investments, including a 30% increase in staff and enhanced services for workers and employers. She’s closed critical loopholes in child labor law, built an Alternative Dispute Resolution and Mediation team, and expanded access to BOLI resources for all Oregonians.
Looking Ahead
Christina is running for re-election to keep building a stronger Oregon workforce. With your support, she can continue advancing policies that ensure fair wages, safe workplaces, and equitable opportunities for everyone.
